Fishing port at La Cotinière
|
The port at La Cotinière is famed for the quality of its fish which pass only a few short days in the icy bellies of the trawlers before being sold 'à la crie' (shouting) on the quaysides. A typical voyage for the trawlermen lasts three days on board boats of only fifteen metres at the very longest. The fleet comprises around sixty boats based in the port, and the majority of the captains were born on the island. Langoustines and shrimps are other local delicacies. |
