Built between 1834 and 1836, the foundations of the lighthouse at Chassiron are over three metres deep and eighteen in diameter. The stone comes from the Crazannes quarries, which also provided the material for the cathedral of Cologne.

The tower is 46 metres high and the lights may be seen up to 52 km away in clear conditions. 224 steps lead to the light room from which a magical view is afforded over the Bout du Monde point (End of the World!)
